The PCS Early Childhood Program

The Peconic Community School Early Childhood program implements a holistic, play-based, arts-integrated educational approach.  We honor our children’s social, emotional, academic and spiritual growth with a program that draws on the best practices in progressive education, such as Waldorf, Montessori, and Reggio Emilia. With an emphasis on imaginative play, meaningful work, and building a strong connection to community, nature and the arts, the PCS Early Childhood Program ensures children a joyful start to their lifelong learning journey.

Families have a choice of 2-day (Tues/Thurs), 3-day (Mon/Wed/Fri) or 5-day/week options.

Children experience a nurturing, playful, literacy-rich program filled with wonder and joy. Our caring, experienced teachers implement a program with experiential, hands-on, multi-sensory learning opportunities. Children must be 3 years old by September 1st of the year of enrollment to be eligible for this program.  Children must be potty trained.

Stay & Play

Monday-Friday, 12:10-3

In order to respond to busy families who need full-day care, we are offering a Stay & Play program for families that are enrolled in the EC "A" program. Families must enroll their child for fixed days in this program if they wish to participate. There is an option for families to be billed monthly or retroactively, as used. The afternoon consists of lunch from home, rest, recess and free play.

Kindergarten

5 days a week, 9am-12:10 or 9am-3pm*

PCS respects this important developmental stage with a specialized program that honors children's social, emotional and academic needs. This is a uniquely transitional time for our young learners, and the program allows us to cultivate individualized opportunities, celebrate each personal journey and help each child to find his/her unique entry point. We also understand some children may not be ready for a full-day program, so we are excited to be offering a half-day option for interested families.
