SHARE 2021: A Place to Call Home

Dear PCS Community,

Thank you, thank you, and thank you, again!

We are simply awed by the spirit, commitment, generosity and community marking last night’s SHARE celebration! It was a magical and joy-filled celebration of 10 years of progressive education on the East End, and a testament to just how bright our future can be when we work together.

Thanks to your tremendous support, we raised over $250,000 toward a future home for Peconic Community School!

The energy and vibrancy of your support for our school’s mission and continued success was just thrilling to behold, and such an inspiring way to launch us into our tenth school year!

Thank you to our SHARE honorees Cindy and Geri Armine-Klein, parents of a recent PCS alum, whose generosity and commitment to PCS’s growth, success and educational model is a true gift.

Special thanks to Tom Colicchio and Lori Silverbush for a special silent auction offer that raised an additional $30,000 for the school!

And, so many thanks to all who participated, from near and far, in our digital SHARE Silent and Student Art Auctionsespecially the many small and local businesses who so generously donated gifts, services and one-of-a-kind experiences to our 10th Anniversary Auctions. Together, your contributions raised an additional $24,000 to the PCS Milestone Campaign for a future permanent home!

Cindy & Geri Armine-Klein

This year’s SHARE honorees, Greenport residents, Cindy and Geri Armine-Klein -- parents of recent PCS alumna, Ru -- are deeply committed members of both the Peconic Community School and East End communities. Dedicated to working with local civic organizations to affect positive change, both Cindy and Geri are active with the North Fork Reform Synagogue, Southold Democractic Committee and The North Fork Women for Women Fund. Additionally, Cindy, who recently retired from her roles as Chief Operations Officer and Head of Customer Experience at First Data Corporation (now FiServe), serves on the PCS Board of Trustees, and was just recently elected as Board Chair. And Geri, an artist and avid horseback rider who worked until recently as an attorney specializing in Environmental Law, serves as a member of the Capital Campaign Committee for CAST, Community Action for Southold Town.

Cindy, Geri and Ru found their way to the PCS community in 2016 when Ru enrolled in the Arts on the Farm Summer Camp held at Hallockville and fell in love with being immersed in hands-on, arts-integrated projects in the open air of the farm. In 2017, when Ru requested to move from Brooklyn to their weekend house in Greenport, it was Ru’s lasting enthusiasm for their camp experience and the opportunity for Ru to continue to thrive in the project-based and community-minded learning environment offered at Peconic Community School, that played a pivotal role in the family’s decision to make the full-time move out East.

Just weeks into the new school year, it was clear that Ru loved being at PCS: they were challenged academically, supported socially, and ever evolving as a respected and honored community member. As Ru was thriving, Cindy and Geri became more and more committed to working with PCS in their mission to make the world a better place through progressive, child-centered and place-based education. Their tireless commitment, support and advocacy for PCS has strengthened the school community at a crucial time in its growth, and we are so grateful for the opportunity to thank and honor them at our 10 year anniversary.
